KL-Hong Kong-Macau-and a lil bit of China

By Liku Layuk Allo - May 07, 2013

Been soo loong since I want to tell a story about my 2013 trip last February! Hahaha. Well it's always better late than never, right? It's gonna be a long post with thousand photos. Beware!

So, we bought tickets a year before, when a well-known airfare pleasantly make "sale season" to some countries. We got tickets to KL, Hong Kong and returns for very, very, reasonable price. But according to our search, they said that life cost in Hong Kong is kinda high (shopping excluded). Honestly my mum bought me the ticket, but she made me promise that if I want to go for holiday I will pay everything there by myself. I nodded, knowing there's still a year to go, Tirza, Mus and me decided that we'll try to find money by ourselves. We've done some things, selling chocolates, cakes, breads, until flowers.. Hehehe. And we're proudly present... that we DID pay our life during holiday using those bucks we worked on.

Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia
Actually, KL is not our main destination. We want to go to Hongkong, but there's no direct flight from our city. So beside flying from Jakarta or Singapore, we chose KL and decided to stay for one day and one night because Mus ain't seen it too yet. As we are adventurous travelers, we three decided to surf in local's place. We met the guy (actually, he found me) in a travelling community called couchsurfing.com. It's a social community of worldwide traveler that aims to gather a new friendship from hosting either surfing fellow travelers. Quintine Onyekaor usually called as Henry, kindly offered his comfy place to us. Henry is  fancy-handsome-cool(are you satistied, Henry?) African guy living in KL, and he is very nice. He dropped us to mall and pick us to have a fun night with his lovely friends in the bar he used to bring every guests he host. Yes, Henry is a pro on hosting travelers! If you check his profile page on couchsurfing, he gets hundred positive reviews. So, yes, we are lucky.

with our sexy host:  Henry, and Smokey

We became acquainted with some travelers hosted by Henry at the same time. The Belgian trio who touring around country with bike, and Maaike, energetic girl who helps us to adapt in Henry's. There are also Henry's friends that we met at bar, Smokey, Akay, and others-I forgot the names.. They are very funny. I remember I laughed so hard that night. Ah, I almost forget to mention Pascal and Ronitz, Germany and Scotland traveler we just met in the bar and they join the crowd until next stops :D

It is only a day and a night, but we never imagined that we're gonna meet a lot of people, had such a crazy night and making new friends. What an unforgettable time in KL.

Hong Kong

City of Light

It's quite cold when we're in Hong Kong. The weather was around 12-18 degreess, it might not be cool for some people, but as a resident of a very-tropical country, we spent most of the nights somewhat freezing hahahaha. And I am so happy that I finally visited Disneyland!! As a junkie of Disney magic, it feels magical to reunite with my childhood and having all those Disney aura everywhere. Too bad I can't found Uncle Groover (Paman Gober), my fav Disney character. I wish to visit Disneyland Paris as well someday, amen!

the-every-8-pm fireworks is D O P E.
Disneyland MRT station. The train's interior is super cute, it has Disney figures near the comfy seat, and Mickey Mouse logo everywhere, even the handrails is in Mickey shape :)
Wheeeeeee :D

Macau

We went to Macau by ferry. The ferry was kinda exclusive, they have comfortable seats, but the waves still moving thou, so we were a lil bit dizzy. Hahaha. We arrived at the port, and we can take free buses of Venetian Hotel. The bus took us to the hotel, and we can put our luggage at the receptionist, so we can explore the magnificent hotel while waiting our friend in Macau come back from work. We will stay at her place.

Macau is a small country, and you can go everywhere by walking if you don't mind. It seems like there were only a few people when we were walking down the street. It was nice, the weather was warmer than Hong Kong. But we were too afraid to stop by and buy anything because every sources that we know mention Macau and its "exclusive"ness. Turns out, it was kind of exaggerated. The prices of stores in the mall was okay. It was just similar with the other stores anywhere; it depends on the brand thou. I happened to bought a dress and a shoes :D

Known as one of the country with the best casinos in the world, of course we didn't waste the time to just looking around but also went straight to the casinos at the hotel. It was very big and cool, unfortunately taking pictures is prohibited, so yeah.. Funny side story, when I just walking freely into the casino entrance, the guard called me and asked for identity card. They only checked for me and not checking on every people. The fact that the casinos only open for 20++ and I was 23 and still not convinced them.. is hilarious. They said sorry because they thought I was 16. Ah, the perks of having a babyface..... :) :)

Macau eggtart!!!! It was super recommended. So so good. The best one is in Venetian Hotel
